The subtle glamour of these cultured pearl earrings make them perfect for any occasion. Three very slightly graduated pearls are set in a shallow arc, creating kind of a half hoop effect. The pearls are a creamy white with a glowing nacre. They sit in scalloped pearl cups on curved bars of 14k white gold, with easy to wear post fittings. Pearls were first cultured in 1893 by Kokichi Mikimoto. Cultured pearls are created by adding an irritant, such as a grain of sand or small bead, to a pearl oyster to encourage it to cover the irritant in nacre, thus creating a pearl.
